Update of Outage On October 1, 2025
Kodex recently experienced an outage and was unavailable from 8:54 a.m. EDT - 12:47 p.m. EDT 10/1/25 that made our website, portal, API, and certain email services temporarily unavailable. The incident was the result of a globally known domain registrar being socially engineered into complying with a fraudulent legal order to seize the kodexglobal.com domain.
While threat actors claimed responsibility for the disruption, ownership was never transferred; it was the registrar who improperly froze our domain as a result of the fraudulent legal order.
No credentials were compromised, no customer data was accessed, and Kodex itself was never breached. At no point did the threat actors have access to, or compromise the confidentiality, of customer data or internal systems.
The registrar is not a Kodex customer. The incident underscores exactly why our mission exists: even the largest and most mature companies are vulnerable to fraudulent legal requests and compromised law enforcement accounts.
At Kodex, we understand how complex and challenging today’s digital and legal landscapes are, particularly when threat actors exploit weaknesses outside of customers’ direct control. We will continue to set the standard and call attention to historically weak access points used by law enforcement, and the damage it can cause when abused.
